- John Joseph O'Mahony (dad) born 29-10-1926 was born in Coach Street, off Grattan Street, (known in Cork City as the Marsh) in a tenement house, his father John was a Caretaker of this building.
He lived there as a baby until they moved to Blarney Street (they were known as Blarney/cottages). They were also family members of the O'Mahony family living in this area.
There was another son born there, Thomas. They then moved to 13 Drawbridge Street Cork City after that.
He attended school at St Peter and Paul's in Paul St Cork City, with his brother Thomas.
Thomas was attending here also till his death at this time of meningitis.
John went on to make his Holy Communion in St Peter and Paul's Church. He went to St Josephs School, Mardyke Cork until the age of 14 yrs.
He, (John Joseph O'Mahony b 29 Oct 1926), worked for a while with his dad, grand uncle Denis, who also served for the British army and was given a house by them in Frenchs Villas, Fairhill, Cork and granda Jack O'Mahony who were bakers by profession.
John Joseph O'Mahony b 29 Oct 1926, married Margaret Cotter (Peggy) born 11-03-1930 at 67 Friars Walk, Cork City, on the 26-12-1952 in the St Finbarr's South Church Cork and had seven children:
They lived in the family house in Drawbridge Street after they married for a while and then moved to 21 Reeds Square, Off Barrack Street Cork, till 1980 when they moved to 6 Coolmaine Cresent, Hollyhill, Cork.
Peggy died in this house 11-06-2000.

O' MAHONY (Coolmaine Crescent, Hollyhill, Cork): On 5th May, 2019, peacefully in the presence of his family at the Cork University Hospital, JOHN (late of Dosco), dearly beloved husband of the late Peggy, much loved father of Monica, Seâan, Lillian, Martina, Carol, Margaret and Anthony and loving partner of Betty.
Sadly missed by his loving family, sons-in-law, daughter-in-law Eileen, his adored thirteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren, sisters, sister-in-law, brothers-in-law, extended family and friends.
Lying in repose at the Coburg Street Funeral Home of Jerh. O' Connor Ltd. Removal at 6.30pm on Tuesday evening to St. Mary's on the Hill, Knocknaheeny. Requiem Mass at 12 noon on Wednesday. Funeral afterwards to St. Finbarr's Cemetery. Family flowers only please.
