Street Accident
At Cork District Court to-day, Timothy Buckley, 68 Mount Farran Assumption Road, Cork, was fined a total of ¹5/10 when he was convicted of driving offences.
They arose out of an accident on January 7 at the junction of Coburg Street - Bridge Street between defendant's car and another driven by a lady driver.
Joan Lynch told Justice J J. Sheerin that she saw Buckley's car when she was taking the turn into Bridge Street and he ran into the back of her car.
She said Buckley slowed down and she pulled into the side to park but when she went back there was no sign of him.
Buckley said because traffic was filtering across he had stopped at the junction. He had begun moving into Coburg Street when a black car shot out past a stationary car and though he braked he hit the rear of this car.
Garda J. May, Fermoy, who was off duty and standing at the junction at the time said Miss Lynch was in possession of the junction when the accident occurred. "I saw Buckley's car move into the junction and before Miss Lynch had time to complete the turning it struck her car.
Justice Sheerin, commenting that Buckley's attitude of not bothering to stop did not make a favourable impression on him, fined him ¹3-10-0 for careless driving; ¹1 for failing to stop and another ¹1 for driving on his own with a provisional licence. He was ordered to pay 10/- witness's expenses.
Mr. G. Ahern, solicitor was for the defendant and Inspector M. Clifford prosecuted.

Deeply regretted by his loving sons, daughters, sister, relatives and friends. On his soul, Sweet Jesus, have mercy. Funeral on tomorrow (Friday) morning after 10 o'clock Requiem Mass at St. Mary's' Cathedral in St Joseph's Cemetery.
