CORKMAN FINED FOR ASSAULT
John Kenny, 67 Colmcille Road, Cork, was fined 30/- at the Cork District Court to-day by District Justice O'Donovan, on a charge of assaulting Arthur Kelly, 97 Mount Nebo Avenue, by striking him on the face and head with his fist.
Mr. Kelly, who explained that the defendant was his wife's stepbrother, said there had been a death in the family and the defendant and himself had a considerable amount to drink. They were in a public house and he found himself on the flat of his back with out knowing what had happened to him, nor could he remember any conversation proceeding this, but "Kenny put me there". As a result of the injuries he sustained he had to spend two days in hospital.
The defendant, who appeared in court, did not make a statement.
Told that the defendant had not been in court on any charge similar to this previously, the Justice fined him 30/-. Supt. Delaney prosecuted.

DOCKER'S LEG AMPUTATED
A docker, Mr. Arthur Kelly, 97 Mount Nebo Ave., Cork, had to have his left leg amputated at the South Infirmary Hospital, yesterday morning, after it had been caught in a grab at the quay in Cork. A married man, his condition at the hospital was later staled to be satisfactory following the operation.

High Court award for Cork docker
A Cork dock labourer. Arthur Kelly of 97 Mount Nebo Avenue, Gurranabraher who had to have his left leg amputated after he was crushed by a crane while working in the hold of a ship at Cork docks discharging coal is to be paid a total of ¹20,000 and costs under a settlement announced to Mr. Justice Henchy in the High Court, Dublin, yesterday.
Mr. Kellv had sued D F Doyle and Co. Ltd. stevedores with registered offices at 1 O'Connell St., Cork, and Tedcastle McCormick and Co. Ltd coal importers, with registered offices at 16 Parnell Place. Cork and judgement was entered against both companies.
Mr. Kelly pleaded that he was employed bv Doyle and Co. Ltd and that the grab crane which struck him was owned by Tedcastle McCormick and Co Ltd. The accident happened on September 4. 1970, while the grab crane, and its driver, were on hire to Doyle and Company.

KELLY (Cork) - On November 2, 1988, (unexpectedly), at the Mercy Hospital, Arthur Kelly (ex Docker), beloved husband of Martha Kelly, 97 Mount Nebo Avenue. Very deeply regretted by his loving wife, sons, daughters, grandchildren, brother, sister, nephews, nieces, sons-in-law, daughter-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, relatives and friends. Requiescat in pace. Reposing at O'Connor Bros. Funeral Home, North Gate Bridge. Removal on this (Thursday) evening at 7.30 p.m. to the Church of the Ascension, Gurranabraher. Requiem Mass at 2.30 p.m. on tomorrow (Friday). Funeral afterwards to St. Mary's Cemetery, Curraghkippane.
