TWOMEY - In this city, November 5, 1948
at the Addison Gilbert hospital,
John Joseph Twomey, 83 years, 5 months,
20 days. Funeral at the home of his son
Timothy M Twomey 16 Marshfield street
om Monday morning at 9.15 o'clock,
with a high mass of requim at St. Ann's
church at 10 o'clock. Internment in St.
Mary's cemetery Newburyport.
John J Twomey
John Joseph Twomey 83, retired
foreman for the Boston and Maine
railroad, died early this morning at
the Addison Gilbert hospital where
he had been a patient since Monday.
He was born in Macroom, County
Cork, Ireland, son of the late John
and Catherine (Sullivan) Twomey.
He came to this country when he
was 17 years old and has resided in
Newburyport, Danvers, Peabody and
Rockport, before coming to Gloucester
three years ago.
He is survived by two sons, John
Joseph Jr.; and Timothy M.; two
daughters, Catherine C.; wife of
Charles R. Amero and Mary Ellen
wife of Warren S. Conant, all of this
city and six grandchildren and three
great granchildren. He also leaves
two brothers, Michael Twomey of
Salem, and Jeremiah Twomey of
Waughal, Ireland, and a sister, Mrs.
Hannah Purcell of West Newton.
Funeral will be held from the
home of a son, Timoty M. Twomey
16 Marshfield street, on Monday
morning at 9:15 o'clock, with a high
mass of requiem to be celebrated at
St Ann's church at 10 o'clock. In-
terment will be in St Mary's ceme-
