Q 30 Jun 1855, William James Rowe, Redruth, Vol 5c, Page 310.
William James Rowe (1855) was born to William James Rowe (1826) and Prisicilla Matilda Tippett on 13 May 1855 and Priscilla died in the Quarter ending 30 Sep 1857 aged approximately 27. Normally this occurs during child birth. As they had been married in 1854, I am supposing William James (1855) was the first born child, as he is named after the fathers father and then Priscilla had Nicholas who was named after her Father. Nicholas was Baptised in Gwinear on 15 Jul 1857 and I have now found GRO birth and death entries for him in the Sept Quarter 1857 the same Quarter that Priscilla died in. So I presume that they died within a few hours or days of each.
As it appears there are no other children apart from William James (1855) and William James (1826) & Jane Stevens' children on the 1861 census, I presume that there were only two children to the first marriage. It is very unusual that records for Nicholas exist as people generally did not record such events, as births and then as deaths, unless the child survived for a significant period, so it is very rare that any record would have been created. This may indicate that Nicholas may have lived as much as the entire Quarter. The Death certificate for Priscilla may mention that she died as a result of complications of or during child birth and shed some light onto Nicholas' life. - Matt Falvey 6 Dec 2010

Elizabeth Lang, Servant, Unm, 22, General Servant, Devonshire.
William Rowe, Servant, Unm, 16, Farm Servant in door, Camborne Cornwall.
Note Williams place of birth here is listed as St Martin, when he was born in Falmouth. There are no William Rowe's with a Falmouth birth on the entire 1871 census and as this entry is in the Trenawin lane area the family has been there now for a long time. William children were mainly born in St Martins and I presume Mary may have given the details or Williams memory may have been failing and so St Martin was given instead of Falmouth.
While I am speculating. the William Rowe "Servant" on this 1871 census is I am sure William James Rowe Born 1855 to William James Rowe (1826) and Priscilla Matilda Tippett. He appeared on the 1861 census with the step family - William James' (1826) new wife Jane Stevens and the then two new offspring Jane and James Stevens Rowe. It seems as the new family grew William James (1855)'s place in it may not have been as secure as the other children's and by 1871 we can see that he was out of the house with his grandfather and his new spouse. I think this isolation would have contributed to his decision 5 years later in 1876 to leave from Hayle and try his luck on his own in Australia - Matt Falvey 6 Dec 2010
