Well when I was born my mother was bad, she was bad in hospital and my father brought me up to my Grandmothers house in St Marys Place. Mary Healy had lost about 8 or nine children and in those days they did not have incubators or anything, so she was after losing 8 or 9 kids. She had only one, surviving, child and his name was Pat Healy and he was killed at 32 years of age in 19 July 1970. He played hurling with Cork Minor and Senior and he is the only man as far as I can gather up to today who played Minor and Senior hurling in the Munster final in the one day. He Captained the Cork Minors in 1956 and he was bought in at half time and he came into the Seniors after half time and he played right corner forward next to Christy Ring who Played full forward. He had Captained the Minor team and they lost to Tipperary and then the Cork Senior trainer, I think he was called Barry, came over to Pat who was sitting on the grass, said get up your going in there and they put him in. They beat Tipperary by a point in the Seniors 1956 and Tipp were favourites to win They lost the Minors to Tipp and Cork were favourites to win. Myself and Pat Healy and Mary Doll were bought up as brothers and sisters, my father was the Blacker, Mary's Father was the Whiter and Pat Healys father was Johnnie Healy. So if I say I was talking to my sister may I have to specify which one. Hughie Falvey 9 Apr 2006
