SHINKWIN - On Nov. 4th, at King George's Hospital Dublin, Sergeant Thomas Thomas Shinkwin 3 Batt R. D. Fus. 38 North Main street. Deeply regretted by his sorrowing wife and child, brothers and sisters, Funeral arrangements later.

A SOLDIER FAMILY

No 1. Private John Lynch, R.M.F. drowned at sea. His family reside at 13 Drawbridge street, Cork. He had been wounded and was home on sick leave. He had been twice wounded on at Cambrai. He fought had in the famous Mons retreat.
No 2. Sergt. Thomas Sheridan (sic) M.M. 3rd R.D. Fusilers, who died in hospital in Dublin on Nov 4th. He was wounded in France in 1916, and in 1918 received other wounds. His family reside at 38 North Main street, Cork. They were brothers in law to Sergt. Denis O'Sullivan, late R.M.F. and Sergt. Steel, R.D.F.

No. 1 - a photo found on the battlefield, of a young Irish trooper in the 8th Hussars, name unknown.
No. 2 - Sergeant Thomas Shinkwin M.M. Royal Dublin Fusiliers. He was in every action with the regiment since the war began. He was also severely wounded in 1916, and returned to the front immediately he recovered. He gained the coveted Military Medal for gallant conduct and dedication to duty on the field on May 27th 1917. He was again wounded and badly gassed on 12 may 1918. He died at King George v. Military Hospital, Dublin, on 4th November, 1918, as a result. His family reside at 38 North Main street, Cork.
