Nellie had previously been engaged to James Frawley a man from Limerick, A picture of him with Nellie in full red dress British army uniform, was on the wall on Hannah Felton (Mulcahy's) house in 2 Patrick's Arch . He said he had a dream that while in the army he was making a landing and that the boat was blown out of the water and that exactly is what happened to him. It took Nellie three weeks to get over his death, she never got out of the bed for three weeks. Eily Mulcahy [Chances are this would have been the Gallipoli landings and these started 25 Apr 1915, (Anzac Day), as these were the only real amphibious landings of WWI. Also Nellie after getting over James Frawley then began courting John Hornibrook, before, either he joined the Navy or was sent away on active service, and then James Hornibrook, John's brother, who was looking after Nellie for John started courting her and eventually they married in April 1918. - Matt Falvey]

When she came back from the US she went to live with her mom Later the Hornibrook's moved to Blarney into a rented farm owned by Larry Cotter a friend of James in the hope that the country air would make Nellie feel better.
Nellie gradually got worse and was then moved to the Incurables hospital. James used to visit her everyday. One day on the way to visit her, he was with the family and a young guy called Murray or Murphy stopped him and told him that she was quite ill and possible close to death. He did not tell the children this, left them and decided to go to the hospital on his own to see her. (I mentioned to Tessie, that Hannah Felton had said that she had been to visit Nellie and just as she was leaving Nellie died, she was then walking out and she saw James coming in the door, they had not been speaking, so passed each other and then James went in and saw Nellie dead - Matt Falvey phone call to Tessie Hornibrook 6 Sep 2004), Tessie said that could be correct, Tessie was not too sure.
My Mother had consumption before she conceived Eleanor -Tessie 2004
James & Nellie had Eleanor in July 1933. Nellie died on 19 Dec 1933 of consumption. Eleanor survived for 5 months and died on 1 Jan 1934. (Pearl Hornibrook said she died in Blarney, conversation early 2004).

Tessie said that her mother Nellie was first buried along with James Felton and then when her daughter Eleanor (Ellen) died shortly afterwards, James bought a new grave and had Nellie exhumed from the Felton Grave and re interred with Eleanor. [3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 11, 12]
